Leaf Tobacco and Commodities (U) Ltd teamed up with Weavana Africa Fortress of Hope to assist families with children who have special needs. Weavana Africa Fortress of Hope is a non-profit organization based in Kampala, Uganda, whose objective is to support families who have children with special needs. The organization focuses mainly on cerebral palsy and autistic children whose accessibility to basic needs is severely restricted. Towards this objective, Leaf Tobacco and Commodities (U) Ltd bought and handed over wheelchairs to Weavana Africa Fortress of Hope who identified the families in the most urgent need. At the handover of the wheelchairs, Weavana Africa Fortress of Hope expressed its appreciation on behalf of the families as follows:
“We take this opportunity to thank our partners for providing these wheelchairs to support families in need. Wheelchairs change lives because they drastically improve accessibility which most people take for granted. Accessibility at home and outside homes is vital in enabling everyone to live as fully and comfortably as possible. The beneficiaries of these donated wheelchairs thank Leaf Tobacco and Commodities (U) Ltd from the bottom of their hearts.”
Leaf Tobacco and Commodities (U) Ltd noted that this was a modest contribution in line with its corporate social responsibility of supporting communities where the company operates.
